Feeding the Hungry and Homeless

Asif Jahan Foundation

No One Should Sleep Hungry

A Mission to End Hunger

In India, millions of homeless people struggle to find a meal each day. From abandoned elderly to destitute families, migrant workers, and disabled individuals, hunger impacts the most vulnerable in our society. Asif Jahan Foundation is committed to eradicating hunger and bringing dignity to the lives of the hungry homeless.

The Hunger Challenge in India

India is home to over 4 million homeless individuals who live on highways, railway stations, bus stops, and urban streets. Many are daily wage workers, waste pickers, or elderly citizens without family support. The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated their suffering, leaving countless people without the means to afford even a single meal. Hunger, combined with homelessness, has pushed these individuals into unimaginable despair.

Our Mission: Eradicating Hunger, Restoring Dignity

At Asif Jahan Foundation, we believe that food is a fundamental right, not a privilege. Every day, we provide meals to 100 hungry and homeless individuals, ensuring they do not sleep with empty stomachs. From street children to elderly citizens and individuals battling leprosy or disabilities, our initiative focuses on feeding those in dire need.

Our Approach to Fighting Hunger

Daily Meal Distribution

Every day, we distribute nutritious meals and fresh fruits to over 100 homeless individuals across public places, including railway stations, highways, and bus stops.
  • Who We Serve: Elderly, women, children, migrant workers, and differently-abled individuals.
  • What We Provide: Balanced meals with essential nutrients to combat malnutrition and starvation

Special Focus on Vulnerable Groups

We prioritize feeding:

  • Abandoned senior citizens who have no family support.
  • Migrant workers stranded without jobs or shelters.
  • Street children who are most at risk of hunger and exploitation.

Reducing Food Waste

By partnering with local communities and food suppliers, we ensure that surplus food is redirected to feed the hungry, reducing food wastage while addressing hunger.

The Impact of Our Work

Immediate Relief

Every meal we provide brings immediate relief to those facing starvation, giving them the energy and hope to face another day.

Long-Term Goals

  • Eradicate Hunger: Sustaining daily meal distribution to feed the homeless consistently.
  • Improve Health: Providing meals with diverse nutrients to combat malnutrition among vulnerable groups.
  • Build Trust: Giving homeless individuals the confidence that they will not have to sleep hungry.

Stories of Change

Ramprasad’s Story: A New Lease on Life

Ramprasad, a 65-year-old man abandoned by his family, spent his days wandering around a railway station. With no source of income, he often went without food for days. Through Asif Jahan Foundation’s daily meal program, Ramprasad now receives hot, nutritious meals every day. His health has improved, and his smile reflects the dignity restored in his life.

Meena’s Journey of Hope

Meena, a mother of two, lost her daily wage job during the pandemic. Struggling to feed her children, she found solace in Asif Jahan Foundation’s grocery distribution drive. The regular Grocery Bag have not only nourished her family but also renewed her hope for a better tomorrow.
